Senior Material Handler - Day Shift

Job Overview

The Senior Material Handler within TE Medical reports to a supervisor within Supply Chain Operations and will support the operation by completing a mixture of the following tasks of which some are generic across multiple functions, and some are specific to certain functions. They are responsible for ensuring that all physical tasks are recorded in the ERP system in a timely manner to ensure accurate data being always available to other departments. They will act as a key point of contact to their associated value stream and will oversee all material handling activities in that value stream. The Senior Material handler will deputize in the absence of the supervisor.

Job Description

Warehouse 

  • Receiving, movements, storage, counting and issuing of materials
  • Complete all physical and administrative tasks.
  • Receiving activities including all PO, non-PO and RMA receipts.
  • Managing and scheduling cycle counts.
  • Ensure all inventory adjustments for the area are completed in full, with the required approvals as per SOP.
  • Responsible for ensuring the staff and visitors in the area comply with all Health and Safety requirements and use the necessary PPE
  • Investigate and report on any deviations from SOP or WI.
  • Support the supervisor in all activities associated with incidents or accidents and risk assessments of the area.
  • Escalate any issues that prevents them from being able to complete their tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ensure clear concise handover to oncoming shifts as required, ensuring all relevant data is passed on.
  • Identifying continuous improvements for the area.

Kitting

  • Receiving, movements, storage, counting and issuing of materials
  • Fully trained to all the associated procedures and work instructions, ensuring compliance to Good Documentation Practice.
  • Managing and scheduling cycle counts.
  • Ensure that all inventory adjustments for the area are completed in full, with the required approvals as per SOP.
  • Support the supervisor in all activities associated with incidents or accidents and risk assessments of the area.
  • Responsible for adherence to schedule and should be able to escalate any issues that prevents them from being able to complete their tasks to schedule.
  • Ensure clear concise handover to oncoming shifts as required, ensuring all relevant data is passed on.
  • Report out on shift activities and ensure that KPI’s are correct and in tolerance.
  • Identifying continuous improvements for the area.

Line Side Material Management:

  • Responsible for Line side material management activities include ordering, movement, storage and counting of raw materials, sub-assemblies and finished goods that are used or made as part of the production process within TE Medical Galway.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all raw material used in production will be notified to warehouse to ensure replenishment.
  • Managing and scheduling cycle counts.
  • Ensure that all inventory adjustments for the area are completed in full, with the required approvals as per SOP.
  • Responsible for adherence to schedule and should be able change the schedule in the event of any issues that prevent production completing the schedule. They should be able to escalate any issues that prevents them from being able to complete their tasks to schedule.
  • Responsible for working with production supervisor to determine the daily work schedule for the area or responsibility and ensuring that this information is shared across the logistics operations workforce.
  • Identifying continuous improvements for the area.

Shipping

  • Responsible for shipping activities include receiving, packing, movement, storage, counting and issuing all finished goods to the customer base of TE Medical Galway.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all shipments have the required quality, customs and shipping paperwork required.
  • Responsible for the management of the carrier base to ensure that they are booked to arrive on the correct day and time.
  • Ensure that all inventory adjustments for the area are completed in full, with the required approvals as per SO
  • Responsible for adherence to the shipment schedule and should be able to escalate any issues that prevents them from being able to complete their tasks to schedule.
  • Identifying continuous improvements for the area.

What your background should look like:

  • Competent in Microsoft Office programmes like word, excel & outlook.
  • Strong and competent SAP/ERP system user
  • Previous supervisory experience an advantage
  • Previous experience in supply chain, logistics or material handling an advantage.
  • Experience in lifting & handling equipment.
  • Experience in updating SOP’s / Documents
  • Experience with material replenishment and flow tools. an advantage
  • Previous experience with Lean
  • Experience in Material management and ABC analysis an advantage
